Landscape archaeology of Roman gold mining in Lusitania: the ‘<i>Aurifer Tagus</i>’ project

Taking a landscape-based approach, the Aurifer Tagus project has demonstrated significance of gold mining in Roman province Lusitania. New radiocarbon dates reveal foundation, use and abandonment Covão do Urso Mina da Presa sites. Combined with ancient literature, this evidence sheds light on territory's organisation evolution its social structure.
